Intensity is prevalent throughout this amazing wine.
Deep in colour, the nose abounds with blackcurrant, blackberry and cassis.
These notes give way to mocha, chocolate and plum, which are lifted by some
wonderfully bright and crunchy red fruits. Warming velvety textures sing
through as intensity prevails in wave upon wave. There is no lack of layers and
textures here, yet the wine is light on its feet and ends with an extremely
long finish. Another very, very fine Penfolds Grange.

About this WINE
Shiraz/Syrah
Black pepper, plum, dark chocolate, full color and tanninsThis grape is known as Syrah in northern Rhône, France and as Shiraz when grown in Australia. No matter what you call it, there is a Syrah or Shiraz for every palate and every occasion. This bold grape produces a range of powerful and smooth wines. The wines are ripe and indulgent, but leave you with its distinctive relish and go well with red meat.Whereas the Syrah/Shiraz grown in warmer conditions in general is sweeter and riper, wines from cooler areas appear aromatic, spicy and somewhat restrained.Choose a bottle from Barossa in Sout

These wines are regarded for their optimised regional character and microclimate variants such as soil, drainage and aspect. Examples include RWT Barossa Valley Shiraz, Bin 128 Coonawarra Shiraz, Reserve Bin A Adelaide Hills Chardonnay, Bin 150 Marananga Shiraz and Bin 23 Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir. Finally, both multi-region and multi-varietal blending exemplify what Penfolds is best known for from a winemaking perspective – crafting wines to a house style. Penfolds Grange is the original and most powerful expression of this blending philosophy, which results in a consistency of style and quality across vintages. Other examples of this style include Quantum Bin 98, Yattarna, Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz and Grandfather Rare Tawny.THE MAGIC OF PENFOLDS BEGINS IN THE VINEYARD. The selection of vineyard sites and quality of fruit have always underpinned Penfolds reputation. Over a 175-year history, Penfolds has owned and leased some of the best vineyard sites in Australia, and work with carefully selected growers to stay true to our fruit-first philosophy of multi-vineyard, multi-regional sourcing. Today, Penfolds vineyards are located primarily across South Australia’s finest wine regions. At the heart is Penfolds Magill Estate. Dr Christopher and Mary Penfold planted the first vines here back in 1844, and even today Magill Vineyard still contributes fruit to Grange when vintage conditions allow. The Penfolds winemaking philosophy is unbound by country, vine or time. This endeavour continues with Penfolds venture into California.THE MAGIC OF PENFOLDS BEGINS IN THE VINEYARD.The selection of vineyard sites and quality of fruit have always underpinned Penfolds reputation. The Region
The Barossa Valley is a renowned wine-producing region northeast of Adelaide, in South Australia. The area encompasses towns such as Tanunda, Angaston, and Nuriootpa, and an array of high-profile wineries offering tours and cellar-door tastings. Shiraz grapes are thee local specialty. The stone cottages and Lutheran churches throughout the region are testaments to a 19th-century wave of German settlers.
