Aroma Notes-

The 2020 vintage was very early, warm, which despite the spring rains is marked by a drought summer. Thanks to the

clay-limestone soil, the vines of Pitray have not suffered from water stress and it is a fruit of great maturity but balanced

that is expressed. At the tasting we feel, first of all the warmth of the vintage with notes of black fruits and very ripe

tannins, then the terroir softens and tempers this expression. Here the wines are gourmet but all in velvet and refinement.

PITRAY Les Prairies 2020 : Notes of ripe fruit and black tea leaves, it is a young but accomplished wine, ready to drink,

whose tannins are already very well integrated. Nina Mitjavile, consultant winemaker.

dolmen testifies that the men had already found particular conditions at Pitray in prehistoric times.

The vineyard of Pitray extends over 36 hectares in one piece, on the clayey-limestone plateau of GARDEGAN, facing south, 8 km as the crow flies from the bell tower of St. Emilion.

It is planted with Merlot (73%), Cabernet Franc (23%) and Malbec (4%).

Nina Mitjavile became since the 2020 vintage the consultant for the vineyard and for the winery.

The vines, of average age 30 years, produce a great wine bearing the Appellation CASTILLON CÔTES DE BORDEAUX

Jean de Boigne took over the vineyard of Chateau Castegens (30 ha) in 2013.
