Aroma Notes-

Monte Cillario Amarone Riserva has an intense ruby red colour with garnet reflections.

The wine has a warm and spicy bouquet with aromas of dried and spirit-soaked fruits, along with hints of tobacco, cocoa, and spices, such as cherries, black cherries, sultana grapes, and cooked plums. The intriguing notes of white pepper and licorice add to its complexity.

On the palate, it has a great structure, it’s warm, full, complex, elegant, and velvety. Fine and round, with soft tannins and long persistence, it gives unexpected hints of fruit in jam and wild herbs.

Monte Cillario

We are in Parona, at the gates of Verona, the first winery you come across going along “Strada della Valpolicella”.

After 50 years of supplying grapes to the Cooperative Winery of San Pietro in Cariano, in 2009 the Marchesini Family (generations of farmers united to the surroundings and the production in Valpolicella, since 1886), decided to establish its own Company, Società Agricola Monte Cillario, with the aim of bottling their own products and showing what their vineyards could offer.

The wines are of immediate pleasure and intense aroma, varietal and evolve with aging.
We are proud that in every glass of wine there is the fruit of a shared dream, and of the Valpolicella’s winemaking tradition.
For us, our land, is a precious treasure; that is the true reason of our reserch to developing and promoting appreciation of the native grapes of our area.

The Region

Veneto

Strolling Piazza San Marco. Sailing the Venetian lagoon. Criss-crossing the undulating hills of Valpolicella. This romanticized notion of Vento, home to Italy’s beloved cities of Venice and Verona, encompasses some measure of truth. Even its macro-climates are diverse, from the foothills of the Alps in the north, Lake Garda to the west and the Adriatic Sea to the southeast.

As a wine region, Veneto brings heft and history to the table. Its importance is in part due to the volume of Pinot Grigio  it produces, and the massive growth in demand for Prosecco. However, continued recognition for other wines from the region, such as Valpolicella, Amarone, Soave and Bardolino help keep Veneto in the spotlight.

Valpolicella’s Four Styles of Wine

This area, more than any other Italian red, produces wines of style. That means the winemaker plays as much a role in the wine as terroir and fruit character.

The four key styles, from least to most intensity are: Valpolicella, Valpolicella Ripasso, Amarone della Valpolicella and Recioto della Valpolicella. All are predominately made with the same grapes (Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara) so it’s winemaking technique that distinguishes them.
